Alberene Ash
Raised on a peanut farm in Corapeake, North Carolina, Gail Hobbs, became a chef for 25 years before purchasing two goats and experimenting with cheesemaking. Today,. Combining her love of great food, farming and animals, she has a herd of forty-four Nubian, La Mancha and Alpine goats in the rolling hills of Rockfish River Valley in Virginia.
Inspired by the former soapstone quarry in the community, Alberene Ash, a pasteurized goat milk cheese is made in a pyramid form and coated with black pepper and ash. This pasteurized goat milk cheese is aged on local lavender boughs.
Available at our Washington DC shop only.
