Mt Tam | Cowgirl Creamery | Petaluma, CA
Cultured Butter • Fresh Pasture • Mushrooms
An organic American Original cheese recipe, our best-selling cheese has all the lusciousness you expect from a triple cream with a unique heart that upholds its texture. Named after the iconic landmark Mount Tamalpais that rises over the San Francisco Bay in Marin County, Cowgirl Creamery’s Mt Tam cheese is produced with organic, locally sourced milk and rises above the standard for bloomy rind cheeses. Mt Tam takes you from fudgy firmness to buttery softness with flavors spanning from bright creme fraiche to complex and mushroomy, evoking the North Bay’s lush green and gold pastures. (7 oz, Pasteurized Cow's Milk & Cream, Microbial Rennet. Suitable for Vegetarians)
Red Hawk | Cowgirl Creamery | Petaluma, CA
Cured Meats • Ocean Spray • Roasted Peanuts
Named for the majestic local red-tailed hawk that soars over the Marin Headlands, Red Hawk is a washed rind triple cream made with organic, locally sourced milk. Red Hawk is for the bold, conveying the character of coastal Northern California. Beyond its rough and rowdy aroma, this cheese has a rich and meaty flavor with balanced notes of cured meats, wild sage, and a kiss of ocean air. (7 oz, Pasteurized Cow's Milk & Cream, Microbial Rennet, Suitable for Vegetarians)
Wagon Wheel | Cowgirl Creamery | Petaluma, CA
Browned Butter • Roasted Nuts • Sautéed Leeks
Experience the liquid gold rush from the hills of San Francisco with Wagon Wheel, a versatile, snackable cheese at its glory when melted down and forged into your favorite meal. Born from the sunshine of California’s rolling golden hills, Wagon Wheel is our most versatile and snackable cheese. At room temperature, it’s approachable and delicious. When melted, we call it Liquid Gold. Designed by chefs for chefs (originally on Zuni Cafe’s pizza menu), Wagon Wheel is a washed rind cheese crafted from organic cow’s milk and aged for a minimum of 75 days. (6 oz, Pasteurized Cow's Milk, Traditional Rennet, Non-Vegetarian)

Can I order individual cheeses?
From our Cheese Shops in the Ferry Building & Point Reyes Station, yes you can.
From our Online Cheese Catalog, we aren’t able to offer individual cheeses. We do feature specific cheeses like our We Love Red Hawk or Welcome Wagon. Also, from time to time, we have online specials with several pieces of the same cheese like our popular Tam Trio. Sign up for our emails in the footer to be the first to know!
How should I store my cheeses?
As soon as you get it home, store the unopened cheese in the refrigerator for best quality. Any opened pieces can be re-wrapped in the cheese paper and sealed in the paper it comes in. You can also re-wrap the cheese in cheese paper that helps to preserve the cheese as much as possible.
If you don’t have cheese paper, use something that will keep the cheese covered so that it doesn’t dry out in the fridge. Other customers have used reusable beeswax food cloths and parchment paper. Plastic wrap can be used, but it’s better for harder cheeses than delicate soft cheese.
Can I create a custom assortment or make substitutions?
For our local fans shopping in San Francisco or visiting us in Point Reyes Station, we offer gift baskets and catering trays.
For our Online Cheese Catalog, unfortunately, we don’t have that option. But check out all of our current catalog - we’ve curated popular combinations that feature the best of Cowgirl for all kinds of cheese lovers.
