An Update on our Good Neighbors: Victory Cheese Box

Posted by Cowgirl Creamery on
Over 6 months ago, we decided to give back to our friends and neighbors California artisan cheese industry–a community that has nourished and inspired us for all these years. At year's end, we've tallied over $20k in donations to the California Artisan Cheese Guild through our Good Neighbors: Victory Cheese Box, supporting artisan and small-scale cheesemakers in our home state. Thank you to all of you who made it possible: gifting and enjoying terrific California cheese for a good cause.

What does comfort food look like to you? For us, this creamy, winter seasonal recipe fits the bill: layered with bitter endive, sweet pear, and salty, rich blue cheese. Contrasting textures in a creamy, indulgent sauce makes all the difference in this cozy gratin.

Rosemary Honey Shrub with Mt Tam

Posted by Cowgirl Creamery on
Sweet, sour, bubbly, and aromatic, this easy non-alcoholic spritz is getting us through #DryJanuary. Paired with our most popular cheese (organic, triple cream Mt Tam), this all-ages beverage is bright and balanced and makes a perfect aperitif or post-dinner treat. This colonial era mocktail was initially prized for its medicinal properties, but we love it as a refreshing contrast to our soft-ripened cheeses.

It's an unusual holiday season, but a smaller gathering doesn't have to be short on cheer. We asked Amanda, Cowgirl Creamery Managing Director, about her family holiday traditions, and she shared her Grandma Flo's iconic Cherry Jello Salad (improved with a dollop of our crème fraîche, of course). Check out our latest blog post to hear Amanda's reflections on Christmas cheese, her dad's favorite romcom, and 50s era desserts.

Red Hawk is more than just a table cheese. We love adding wedges to this classic potato gratin. With a bit of heat and lots of cream, its funky flavor softens into something complex, but still cozy. This cheesy, creamy, bubbling dish is a brilliant side for this holiday season.
